Sisters
of Diversity
The
second
Saturday each month, women gather from 10 am to 2pm. The morning
begins with an hour of silence for personal prayer. The morning
continues as we share insights, life stories, concerns, and some
aspect of contemplation or contemplative experiences. This gives
women an opportunity to know others uniquely and diversely based on
a spiritual relationship. It also provides women an opportunity to
be affirmed in their contemplative experience.
Contemplative Support Group
The
Contemplative Support Group offers women and men the opportunity for
on-going support for their spiritual journey. Meeting on alternate Thursdays each month, the members share wisdom from selected
books/readings and how they individually apply that in their spiritual
practices. The group's intent is to integrate contemplative
practices into their lives on a consistent basis and to help each
other regularly connect to their spiritual center. [Check
Events for specific details.]
Men's Contemplative Support Group
As men seek the face of God, it is particularly important to
do that in the company of other men. It has been said that
if men could only open to and be honest with other men,
world peace would be imminent for in a space of openness and
honesty there is no room for fear, violence, or aggression.
Meeting every third Wednesday, the Men’s Contemplative
Support Group offers the opportunity to be with others
longing for communion from which they grow and nourish one
another and become the peacemakers they are intended to be.
Contemplative Knitting Group
For
many, knitting is a meditative or contemplative act and this group
meets every fourth Tuesday for an evening that blends silence,
prepared reflection around a selected theme, knitting and sharing.
Members find the communal silence, reflection and knitting a rich
and prayerful way to gather monthly.
Community Gatherings
Eremos is a center of contemplative life. It provides regular opportunities
to celebrate our personal spirituality with others. It creates a
place to review and anchor the pace and direction of our lives through
connecting with others in an atmosphere of silence, respect and
prayer.
Spiritual Direction
Attentive listening by a qualified and experienced spiritual director
assists individuals in responding to life through focusing upon
the direction of the Spirit. In a context of privacy and confidentiality,
persons are free to share all aspects of their lives and discover
ways to live more consciously and creatively.
7-Circuit Labyrinth
On the grounds of Eremos you will find a wonderful walking meditation
tool called the labyrinth. The seven circles honor the chakra system,
the sacramental system and the mysticism of seven. To walk the labyrinth
is an experience of connection to the earth, to our selves, to the
path of our lives toward the Center and from the Center to return
to the place from which we started. The labyrinth is available to
the Eremos community from dawn to dusk each day.
Prayer Retreats
Day retreats or weekend retreats are available offering unstructured
time to pray, leisure for renewal, and opportunities to explore
new depths of intimacy with God and others. Coming together with
others provides a community of inspiration and support for our life
of prayer. Retreats enhance the quality of our daily giving and
receiving.
Workshops
Eremos regularly sponsors workshops to support persons’ spiritual
journeys. We offer opportunities to experience different
expressions of contemplation. We also offer opportunities to
discover insights into specific contemplative topics such as “dark
night” St. John of the Cross, spirituality and ecology. There is
time for personal reflection and prayer as well as opportunities to
share wisdom with others. It is our intention that people
incorporate these experiences into daily living.
Eremos invites individuals to come and behold
the mystery of God dwelling within. From the intimacy of this communion,
they are empowered to live and love others.
