A Blissful State of Mind…

 In Reflections

To experience peace doesn’t mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life.”
—Jill Bolte Taylor

Bliss. Such an extravagant, luscious word for “complete happiness” and the state of being associated with a union with the divine. Even if a blissful state of mind feels far out of reach, just moving a little bit closer to that experience could help us navigate challenges.

“From tiny, tiny waves of joy, one gets to the ocean of happiness, which is called bliss.”
―Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

If we start with opening to “tiny waves of joy”, perhaps we can flow into that state without a lot of grasping or judging ourselves as not worthy of this heightened state of being.

May you open to the possibility of experiencing a blissful state of mind this summer as you ride the tiny waves of joy.

It’s Just Peace

“Once bliss becomes normal it’s no longer bliss, it’s just peace.”
—Eckhart Tolle

Follow Your Bliss

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”
—Joseph Campbell

GIFT

A day so happy.
Fog lifted early, I worked in the garden.
Hummingbirds were stopping over honeysuckle flowers.
There was no thing on earth I wanted to possess.
I knew no one worth my envying him.
Whatever evil I had suffered, I forgot.
To think that once I was the same man did not
embarrass me.
In my body I felt no pain.
When straightening up, I saw the blue sea and sails.

—Czeslaw Milosz, from New & Collected Poems 1931-2001.
