A Warm Heart is the Way…
“Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.” —Albert Schweitzer
While preparing for this Thursday’s conversation with Rev. Dr. David Zuniga about how to stay present and move forward, I came across a quote from His Holiness the Dalai Lama about the power of warmheartedness or kindness. It reminded me of Sharon Watkins’ stories during her talk at our gala brunch this past Saturday.
—His Holiness the Dalai Lama
How can you bring more kindness toward others (and yourself) into your daily life? Are there small rituals you can begin to support you in exercising your kindness muscle or warming up your heart? It could be as simple as making eye contact in the grocery store and smiling. Kindness begets kindness. Imagine the possibilities…
May you feel your heart warming, strengthening, and opening with each act of kindness you offer. And may you be blessed by the acts of kindness of others.

Kindness Ripples
“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”
— Scott Adams
Kindness Creates
Kindness in words creates confidence.
Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.
Kindness in giving creates love.
—Lao Tzu

Nothing is Ugly Just Because
After Naomi Shihab Nye’s “A Valentine for Ernest Mann”
Nothing is ugly
just because the world says so.
The hunched over vulture
I saw last night,
the one gutting a rabbit
who judged a road too narrow,
is the same serene bird perched
in the bare oak this morning,
wings cast wide toward the East,
first light shimmering
through her blackness.
I know this life.
What it is to be ravenous
and feast.
What it is to crave warmth
and bask.
What it is to be
just who you are,
dark feathers and all.

How can your warmheartedness support you in seeing the beauty where you only saw ugliness before?
