Our History

[inwave_info_list][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”1992:” align=”left”]Jean Springer arrived in Austin, Texas with a dream of providing a space within Austin in which people could be invited to listen to the Spirit dwelling within each of them and within the lives they live.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”1995:” align=”left”]On retreat with a group of women called “Sisters of Diversity” the thought of becoming a non-profit organization was surfaced and from this conversation an Organizational Committee was formed to explore this vision.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”1996:” align=”left”]We incorporated as Eremos with a four-member Board of Directors and received our status as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”2016:” align=”left”]Eremos celebrated its 20th anniversary, giving thanks for all of the men and women who have supported our mission through the years and have been part of this growing community.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”2018:” align=”left”]Our founder and Spiritual Amma, Jean Springer, passed away on February 20th, 2018.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”2018:” align=”left”]April 2nd, 2018, Eremos moved out of its home for over 20 years into its new office at 3355 Bee Caves Road, Ste. 101, Westlake Hills, TX 78746.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”2020:” align=”left”]With the arrival of the pandemic, Eremos quickly pivoted to Zoom offerings. This transition enabled us to expand our community beyond our Central Texas home.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”2021:” align=”left”]Eremos continues to evolve, expand our contemplative support nationally, and thrive, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary![/inwave_info_item][/inwave_info_list]

Dr. Mona West.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”7:10pm:” align=”left”]Looking back and remembering Jean. Via stories, photos, and recordings we look back at the solid foundation of community built over the years with Nancy Angel, Ed Wilder, and Barbara Lightheart. (We’ll have opportunities throughout the year for others to share their memories too!)[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”7:30pm:” align=”left”]Bridging the past into our inspiring present – how we’ve evolved and what we’re doing now, with guest speaker Nancy McCranie on “the gift of Eremos Jean bequeathed us”.  Nancy Chester McCranie, M. Div., is the Director of Volunteer and Bereavement Services of Hospice Austin and a longtime friend of Eremos and past spiritual directee of Eremos founder, Jean Springer.[/inwave_info_item][inwave_info_item style=”style2″ title=”7:45pm:” align=”left”]What words describe Eremos?
