Deepen Your Spiritual Life, As You Open Your Heart to Presence
Spaciousness, Presence, Natural Awareness are just some of the names for the space where your being and spirit are able to rest in and access a “peace that is beyond all understanding”. You may be familiar with the basics of mindfulness meditation such as focusing on your breath and returning to your breath or anchor when your mind wanders.
Using the model of the “Spectrum of Awareness” developed by Diana Winston, PhD., we will go beyond the basics to explore and practice four types of awareness and how they manifest in meditation. The four types of awareness that will be taught and practiced are focused awareness, investigative awareness, choiceless awareness, and natural awareness.
In this four-week series, you will:
♦ Learn and identify ways of building and strengthening each type of awareness and how each type can open our hearts to Presence;
♦ Have the opportunity to consider how each type of awareness practice can deepen your spiritual life;
♦ Gain a variety of ways to practice meditation that will be expansive and responsive for you; and,
♦ Spend time in guided meditations and silence with other people called to a contemplative path.
