Gifts of the Night: Winter Solstice 2022
December 21, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm CSTFree
I have faith in the night. – Rainer Maria Rilke
We invite you to step back from both holiday loneliness and busyness to embrace the gifts of the longest night of the year. While we usually focus on the return of the light, this year we immerse ourselves in the blessings and wisdom to be found in honoring the night.
Wednesday evening, December 21st, 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Virtually: (via Zoom)
Join us for an hour of reflection and conversation to help us honor the gifts of the night. Leave with a greater sense of peace and welcome for the blessings of the season.
*The official time of the Winter Solstice this year is 3:47pm Central on Wednesday, December 21st in the northern hemisphere.
You darkness from which I come,
I love you more than all the fires
that fence out the world,
for the fire makes a circle
so that no one sees you anymore.
But darkness holds it all:
the shape and the flame,
the animal and myself,
how it holds them,
all powers, all sight—
and it is possible: its great strength
is breaking into my body.
I have faith in the night.
—Rainer Maria Rilke, translation by David Whyte
