We’ll practice listening to our own hearts and herstories.

We will develop deeper trust and safety in our inner selves and within the community that gathers.  In this personal collective time, we will focus on the stories which have claimed our hearts.

Specifically, we’ll bring two or three items from our past  that have special meaning to us and will help us focus on the stories behind them.  After communal centering, we’ll separate to write briefly (outline or more) about our treasures.  We’ll return to the circle to speak our memories  to each other and place the object or photo on a central mandala.

After we’ve all shared, we will note together the universal themes that we experienced in our listening.  And we’ll have, though temporary, a visual representation of these stories  on the communal mandala.

Ultimately, the surprise and joy we find as we create this final verbal tapestry of our heart-stories offers renewed  hope and strength in ourselves and in our community.  We are designed to experience this complicated life together and we are tasked with creating our own herstories.

ABOUT OUR FACILITATOR

Brooks Kasson

Brooks considers creativity a cornerstone in her life. Over the years, she has enjoyed photography, poetry, watercolor, improv, storytelling, crochet, drumming writing, collage, pen and ink, dancing, and gardening. She knows that culture is generationally created and handed through stories. Our personal stories come from hearts, the true source of inspiration and, when shared, the true source of community. Brooks is a traveler, having begun school in England right after WW2 and attended high school in Saigon, right before the Vietnam war. Her UT degree is in education, and she has a long career in listening and touch.
