Following Your Inner North Star…
“The way to find your own North Star is not to think or feel your way forward but to dissolve the thoughts and feelings that make you miserable. You don’t have to learn your destiny—you already know it; you just have to unlearn the thoughts that blind you to what you know.” —Martha Beck
With October’s arrival and too many external tasks and events clamoring for my attention, I’m feeling pulled in many directions.
At times like this, I find myself stepping away more often to stand in a quiet spot to close my eyes, put my hand on my heart, and listen for where my inner North Star is calling me to focus.
How do you uncover and connect with your inner guidance or North Star in chaotic times?
Maybe your attention isn’t on all that needs to be done but is instead on wanting to fulfill any remaining desires or dreams for 2024 in this last quarter of the year. In either case, anchoring yourself to your North Star can help you move forward toward what really matters.
“To have a desire in life literally means to keep your star in sight, to follow a glimmer, a beacon, a disappearing will-o’-the-wisp over the horizon into someplace you cannot yet fully imagine.” — David Whyte
Consider carving out some time this week to reconnect with your star and heed its wisdom as you travel through these last three months of the year. You just might be surprised where it’s calling you…further than you ever imagined.
May you be blessed with an awareness of the bright star within. And may its light guide you forward through the twists and turns of life.

It’s in Your Soul
“Who you are, what your values are, what you stand for, they are your anchor, your north star. You won’t find them in a book. You’ll find them in your soul.” — Anne M. Mulcahy
That Little Nudge…
“Until I understand where I am, I can’t get to where I am going. This is the value of a compass when we are out walking or hiking and need to know we’re going in the right direction. But we also have an internal North Star. It’s that little nudge that tells us if we are on the right path to fulfilling our potential, or on the wrong path wasting energy traveling somewhere we don’t need to go. So my advice to you is, pull out that compass every once in a while and make sure you are navigating in the right direction on your journey.”
—John C. Maxwell

The Way Home
If you are lost in a forest at night, you can follow the North Star
to find your way out.
You follow the North Star, but your goal is to get back home;
it’s not to arrive at the North Star.
— Thich Nhat Hanh.
