Seeking Breathing Space…
“To understand one’s world, one must sometimes turn away from it! To serve better, one must briefly hold it at a distance. Where can the necessary solitude be found, the long breathing space in which mind gathers its strength and takes stock of its courage?” —Albert Camus
Out In The Country by Three Dog Night came up in my music feed recently. I hadn’t heard that 70’s song in years but was struck by how timely the lyrics were for the stresses of today and the grief many of us are processing from world events.

Art Offers Space…
“What art offers is space—a certain breathing room for the spirit.”
—John Updike
Is there an art museum you’ve been longing to visit? Perhaps this is the week for that adventure!
A Day Away
“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.”
― Maya Angelou

Break Away
“Is there a place you can go to break away for a little while? If you haven’t yet built your tree house, it’s never too late to start.”
― Gina Greenlee

TRANSFORMATION
The day is warm and cloudless,
the lake a trembling blue
kayakers glide by
seemingly without effort
a light breeze, soft,
like angel’s breath.
I read and write, relaxed,
while ever so slowly
like a miracle you can
actually watch happen,
without even trying,
my skin is turning brown.
―Charles Rossiter, as featured in The Wonder of Small Things: Poems of Peace & Renewal, Edited by James Crews
