The Lord is truly risen, alleluia

 In Reflections

All around the world, Christian people have gathered  shouting the Easter proclamation:

The Lord is truly risen, alleluia

In a world so divided by economics, wars, abuse, oppression, and  fear,  today we unite as one people.  It is a shout of hope, of promise, of faith not denying the realities of our world, but rather to proclaim a new vision to our world.

In the Easter story recorded in the Gospel according to Mark, there is awe and surprise when what the women expected was encountered by something totally different.  “don’t be amazed!  You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.  He has been raised”

Easter is an invitation to each of us to open to wonder and awe.  We are invited to let go our old ways of seeing and believing and take a more radical stance in our world.  It is based on a deeper faith and vision:  one based not on death and destruction, but rather hope and resurrection.

May the Easter song be sung in your heart and your life

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
