We Should Celebrate…

 In Reflections

“Life has sweetness to it and a beauty and a power that I wanted to celebrate.” —Valerie Harper

Growing up in southern California, I didn’t know much about Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday or any other pre-Lenten celebration. Living here in Texas, I now know people who find a way to bring a bit of Mardi Gras into their lives today.

“Mardi Gras is a state of mind.” –Ed Muniz

Like many excuses to have a party, from St. Patrick’s Day to Cinco de Mayo, Mardi Gras has become a national chance for many to live it up. Why not?

On the eve of Ash Wednesday and the 40 days of time for more sober Lenten reflections for Christians, what can you celebrate?

No matter what has come before and what awaits us, there is always something in this moment worthy of celebrating. And if sorrow or illness keep you from celebrating today, please consider holding the vision of others celebrating life on your behalf.

May opportunities to celebrate, both large and small, come into your awareness today. And may you joyfully acknowledge them!

365 Days

“We should celebrate love
on all the 365 days.”

―Prosenjit Chatterjee

Love Is

“Love is an act of self-assertion, self-expression and a celebration of being alive.”

― Nathaniel Branden

Return

For Ash Wednesday

Remember.
You were built for this,
the ancient path
inscribed upon your bones,
the persistent pattern
echoing in your heartbeat.

Let this be the season
you turn your face
toward the One
who calls to you:

Return, return.

Let this be the day
you open wide your arms
to the wind that knows
how to bear you
home.
