Worth Celebrating…
“You do not need a festival to celebrate, life itself is a festival, celebrate your life.” ― Osho
Many of us find it difficult to celebrate when we can point to all that’s wrong or didn’t get accomplished. You can sense this kind of resistance to celebrating the 4th of July this year.
Yet, there are stories that highliht the best of America. Like the rewards of expressing gratitude, when we celebrate even the small victories, we seem to call forth more of these joyful moments.
Who among us couldn’t benefit from bearing witness to more acts of kindness, championing freedom, and embracing the can-do spirit? So, I invite you to spend a few moments this week saying thank you for the good things while celebrating the joys of being alive in the USA.
“We all have life storms, and when we get the rough times and we recover from them, we should celebrate that we got through it. No mater how bad it may seem, there’s always something beautiful that you can find.” — Mattie Stepanek
Our country is certainly in the midst of some serious “life storms” (perhaps you are too). Let us find and celebrate the beautiful anyway.
May you be blessed with an awareness of all that’s good and right in your life and country this week. And may you take time to celebrate it.

“The most beautiful things are not associated with money; they are memories and moments. If you don’t celebrate those, they can pass you by.” ―Alek Wek

In the Fourth of July Parade
Right down the middle of main street
the woman with the long red braids
and fairy wings strapped to her back
rode a unicycle more than two times
taller than she was—rode it with balance
and grace, her arms stretched out,
as if swimming through gravity,
as if embracing space—her smile an invitation
to join in her bliss. How simple it is, really,
to make of ourselves a gate that swings open
to the joy that is. How simple, like tossing
candy in a parade, to share the key to the gate.
